Le Département d'arts visuels de l'Université d'Ottawa annonce l'ouverture d’un poste de professeur en peinture à temps complet au rang d’adjoint conduisant à la permanence.

 

Le Département offre une Maîtrise en arts visuels (M.A.V.), un Baccalauréat en arts visuels ainsi que la Majeure en arts visuels, programmes qui sont axés à la fois sur les pratiques d'atelier et sur la théorie, ainsi que des programmes en histoire et théorie de l’art.

 

Nous cherchons une personne ayant une pratique de peinture active, et qui possède une bonne connaissance de l’impact de la peinture en art contemporain.  Des aptitudes à l’enseignement du dessin seront considérées comme des atouts.  Des aptitudes à l’enseignement à tous les niveaux du premier cycle et du deuxième cycle sont requises.

 

Exigences

Ø      Maîtrise en beaux-arts (M.A.V.) ou l’équivalent

Ø      Un engagement soutenu envers la production en peinture, assorti d’un dossier d’exposition dynamique et reconnu

Ø      Bonne connaissance des enjeux de l’art contemporain et de la théorie

Ø      Une aptitude pour la conception de programmes et les tâches administratives

Ø      La capacité, dès l’entrée en fonctions, d’enseigner en français et en anglais

Ø      Expérience en enseignement postsecondaire

 

Le salaire est établi selon la convention collective de l'Université d'Ottawa.  Ce poste est sujet à une approbation budgétaire.

The Department of Visual Arts of the University of Ottawa announces the opening of a full-time, tenure-track position in Painting at the rank of Assistant Professor.

 

The Department offers Master of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts with Major in Visual Arts, programs that are committed to both studio practice and theory, as well as programs in the History and Theory of Art.

 

The candidate should be actively engaged in a painting practice and demonstrate a clear understanding of the significant role of painting within the field of contemporary visual art.  The ability to also teach drawing is an asset. Teaching ability is required at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate programs.

 

Qualifications

Ø      M.F.A. or equivalent

Ø      Extensive commitment to painting practice and an active and recognized exhibition record

Ø      Strong knowledge of contemporary art issues and theory

Ø      Ability to engage in curriculum development and administrative tasks

Ø      Ability to function in a bilingual setting

Ø      Teaching experience at post-secondary level

 

The salary is determined according to the collective agreement of the University of Ottawa. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

School for Studies in Art and Culture

The School for Studies in Art and Culture, Carleton University, invites applications for a tenured faculty position in Art History, Film Studies or Music, who will also serve as Director of the School for a five-year renewable term beginning July 1, 2009.  Candidates should possess an appropriate advanced degree, hold the rank of associate or full professor, and have a significant track record as a prominent scholar in one of the three disciplines housed in the School, a proven record of strength in teaching, and strong administrative experience in an academic environment.

In keeping with the current collaborative governance model, the new Director will help strengthen collegial relations and effective communications among faculty, administrative staff, and students.  Duties will include the active promotion of the School both within the Faculty and to senior administration, as well as interaction with a variety of arts organizations in the larger community.  A willingness to engage in fundraising activities will be important.

We seek an artist with a strong commitment to practice and an inspiring teaching style to work within a highly-regarded and growing ceramics area.

 

Requirements include an MFA in Ceramics, successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level, an exhibition record-ideally at the national and international level, and demonstrated creative excellence.

 

The successful candidate is capable of working in a wide range of aesthetic, conceptual and technical aspects of ceramics suitable for a broadly based teaching context. This includes safely operating, managing and maintaining a teaching facility that includes electric, wood and gas kilns and a comprehensive clay and glaze materials inventory. The position requires knowledge of ceramic history and practice suitable for teaching in a University context. The incumbent occasionally acts as Area Chair for Ceramics and must possess qualities suitable for this administrative capacity.
